Delete Your Account & Data

Last updated: June 2, 2026

This page explains how to delete your Sober Living Companion account and the personal data associated with it. Sober Living Companion is a program of Empower Next Project, a non-profit organization (EIN 39-3580172).

Two ways to delete your account: delete it yourself inside the app (fastest), or send us a request and we'll do it for you. Both options remove your personal data as described below.

Option 1 — Delete it in the app

The Sober Living Companion app includes a built-in account deletion option:

  1. Open the Sober Living Companion app and make sure you're signed in.
  2. Go to the Account (Settings) screen.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm when prompted. Your account and associated personal data are then permanently deleted.

Once you confirm, the app signs you out and your account is removed.

Option 2 — Request deletion by email or phone

If you can't access the app, you can ask us to delete your account:

  • Email: info@empowernextproject.org from the email address on your account, with the subject "Account Deletion Request."
  • Phone: (213) 321-6518.

Please include the email address (and, if you have one, the phone number) associated with your account so we can verify the request. We will delete your personal data within 30 days of verifying your request.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, we remove the personal data tied to it, including:

  • Your profile (name, email, phone, role, and house association);
  • Your recovery information (sobriety date, meeting check-ins, milestones, check-ins, notes, tasks);
  • Your schedule events and any imported items;
  • Your messages and community posts;
  • Your payment records and payment handles stored in the app;
  • Your device push-notification token.

What we may retain

We may retain a limited amount of information when the law requires it — for example, records we must keep for legal, accounting, or safety reasons. Any retained data is kept only as long as necessary and remains protected under our Privacy Policy.

If you are a resident connected to a sober living home, that home may keep its own records as part of its recovery program. We will delete the data we control and direct your request appropriately for anything held by the home.
